Youth Suicide

Suicide is sadly the leading cause of death for Koreans age 10-24. And there’s been an increase in youth suicide attempts as well as seen here.

Youth suicide is thought to be high due to family expectations, competition in academics and getting a job, finding a spouse, affording to buy a home, school bullying, and mental health issues.

“If you’re [in Korea and] thinking about self-harm or suicide, contact the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s helpline on 1393, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please request a translator for English-language services.”
